Wedding Vow

"I take you, Jocelyn as my wife, to have, and to hold, from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, till death do us part. "

In Jocelyn's previous entry, she wrote about her unfortunate incident where she hurt her pinky finger and then her face went swollen for a week due to unknown allergy.

It was really a worrying period for the both of us. Day after day, I couldn't bear to see the sad look on her swollen face. Then there was this worry that the swell might not go at all. To lighten the situation, we joked that her swollen face was a preview of how Jocelyn will look like when she gains weight in the future.

Now as I look back, I really want to thank God for allowing the incident to happen. One thing that constantly came to my mind during that time was the wedding vow we made on our wedding day - "I take you, Jocelyn as my wife, to have, and to hold, from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, till death do us part. " Beyond Jocelyn's swollen face, I saw the most beautiful side of her. I was reminded that she is the one I truly love whether it is for better or for worse, whether in sickness or in health. I felt that God has affirmed me that I am ready to take care of Jocelyn for the rest of our lives. The incident has also taught me the importance of praying for one another as husband and wife.

Thank God for your valuable lesson. Hallelujah!

Cinema 4D!

Thanksgiving

Following the previous post, I would like to give thanks to God:

1) that I had not snapped off the whole finger from my hand, that I still have a hand of 5 fingers, though I don't know when my pinky finger will fully heal;

2) that I had recovered from my allergy (giving thanks in advance in faith!), that i did not feel especially itchy and uncomfortable throughout the time of sickness and that my swollen face wasn't that bad (I had heard of worse ones);

3) I fell down from the stairs at my office 2 weeks ago and I thank God that I didn't sprain my leg! And that no one was around when I was on my fours! Woohoo!

Really thank God for loving me and being so good to me!

And thank my husband for taking care of me when I was sick!

An eventful Christmas

My Christmas in year 2008 ended with a bang...on my pinky finger @_@

It so happened that after a nice and filling dinner at the famous Scissors Curry Rice stall, and as I was happily closing the car door behind me (at our home car park), I felt my finger stuck. Yes, I had left it there when I was closing the door. The next thing I know, I was squatting down and screaming and totally oblivious to the people staring at me (or maybe there weren't people around...I don't know...). Initially I didn't think it was anything serious until Francis took a look at it and I saw blood oozing out; my nail cracked and it looked like it was coming off my finger. I almost fainted. Then, I wailed even louder and cried like a baby, as we slowly made our way to the lift and back home (this time, I'm sure people noticed us). I was traumatized and kept mumbling that I couldn't do housework now, I couldn't go to work tomorrow, I couldn't bathe, blah blah blah. Poor Francis. He tried to calm me down and asked me not to think so much. In retrospect, I'm quite amused by what I said. Haha.

All was well. I accepted the fact that my pinky finger will be dysfunctional for at least a month, and that my nail will come off any time because I'm just too accident-prone. I was ready to go to work the next day with a bandage on my finger as I climbed on bed and ended 25th December 2008.

I woke up the next morning and looked at myself in the mirror. Something's weird; something's not right. But I couldn't put a finger to it (not because I hurt it the night before...hahaha). So I continued to wash my face. Ahh...it felt different...it didn't feel right. Then I concluded that it was bloated, and I noticed red spots on my limbs as well. Must be an allergy, I thought. But, to what? I visited the doctor and there wasn't much conclusion either, except that it was, an allergy. I don't blame doctors, because allergy is really difficult to detect until something happened, but by the time it happens, too many factors could have caused it and at the end of the day, we still don't know what allergy it is. Anyway, and so I rested on 26th December. I was even brave enough to exhibit my bloated face by allowing my cell group to come to my place in the evening.

And as I was ready to wake up on Saturday to visit my hair dresser and go shopping with my mum and sis, I found a more swollen me in the mirror. I felt like hamsters with cheeks full of stored food or an obese goldfish. I couldn't bear to take a second look in the mirror. What was before me was hideous! I had never looked like this before and I don't want to look like that again! But I still decided to take one more day of medicine before I sought a second opinion. Lo and behold, I still didn't get any better on Sunday so I visited a 2nd doctor. Apparently, the medicine worked on my swelling and it went away a bit after my first intake. But my cheeks were still a teeny weeny bit swollen the next day (Monday...mc!!!). Hopefully I'll be totally well when I go back to work on Tuesday.

You know the morale of the story? Never leave your things behind, especially your fingers, when you alight from a vehicle. And secondly, Jocelyn should never get fat. She looked really ugly.

Thank God again!

This is a follow up to my earlier post. When my Getz lost control on the road a month ago, I was actually thinking of changing car when the incident happened. Immediately I made up my mind to change car.

To cut the long story short, I needed two things:
1. $11k - To sell my Getz, I have to pay the bank over $10k
2. Buy a new car at the cheapest price

I was really desperate to change my car and I prayed to God that I will be able to find money to pay off my old car in the shortest time possible and buy new car at the right time when car prices are at the lowest.

And after weeks of dilemma, I made a risky decision in mid Nov. I ordered a Vios based on the prices at that time but will collect it in Jan 2009 so that I will have money by then to sell my Getz.

Here comes the good news. A day after I've made my order, I received an sms from MOE that I will be receiving a sum of money from my connect plan in mid Nov. With that money I will be able to sell my Getz anytime! Thank God!

Here comes the better news. I've gotten my car COE for $2!!! As reported in the news, this is the lowest ever since the COE bidding system started in 1990. Though I know nothing much about the COE bidding system, I know that it works based on the fact that demand is always greater than supply. But yesterday, the demand only exceeded the supply by 1! A market anomaly!

It is really amazing how God answered my prayers! He did not only answer my prayers, He surprised me and gave me more than what I needed. Praise the Lord!

Also thank you my wife for being alongside with me and supporting me in my decision making all this while. Love you!

Char Yong Community Service @ SG Flyer

This is really a very meaningful experience. I was taking care of a man who is visually impaired and is on wheelchair. I realised that things I often take for granted means alot to these people. The most humbling part is when I had to feed him using bare hands at Popeye.
